In the spring of 2022, Trilogy Tehaleh Firewise members met with a Unit Fire Manager from the Department of Natural Resources and walked some of the trails in Trilogy to review the fire fuel load in those areas that had been created by both trail construction and the natural deterioration of the aging deciduous trees along those trails.

Here’s a summary of the document from the Trilogy Tehaleh Firewise (TTF) community:
Trail Maintenance: In spring 2022, TTF members and a DNR Unit Fire Manager assessed fire fuel loads along trails. They identified areas needing cleanup due to trail construction and natural tree decay.
Cleanup Approvals: TTF obtained TOA board approval for invasive species removal and cleanup events. The first cleanup was on May 7, 2022, with subsequent approvals for additional areas1.
DNR Training & Cleanup: The DNR provided free cleanup services as training for new hires2. However, they lacked a woodchipper, which was later funded by a grant from the Pierce Conservation District.
Ongoing Efforts: TTF continued to request TOA board permissions for cleanup activities, including the use of a professional crew and DNR training sessions. The latest project was approved for May 4, 2024, with the DNR’s new woodchipper.
